Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Doctor of Physics and Mathematics.
He entered the labor force from 1973 at Mangyshlak Energy Complex as an Engineer-physicist of VN-350 reactor.
He worked as Head of physico-technological laboratory of Mangyshlak Energy Complex, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Complex on reactor production. From 1988 till 1992 he worked as Deputy Director of Mangistau Energy Complex.
From 1992 till 1994 – General Director of Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 1994 till 1996 – Minister of Science and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 1996 till 1999 – Minister of Science – President of Academy of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 1999 till 2000 – Minister of Energy, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 2000 till 2002 – Deputy Premier-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 2002 till 2006 – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 2006 till 2007 – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 2007 till 2008 – Deputy Head of Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From 2008 till 2009 – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
From May 2009 till August 2014 – Chairman of the board of National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC.
From August 2014 – Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 1993 Vladimir Shkolnik is the President of Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan.
He was awarded a medal “Parasat” (1998), service medal “Astana” (1998), anniversary medal «50 years of Tselina» (2004), “The first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev” (2005), “20 years of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan» (2011), medals “40 years of Mangistay oblast” and “50 years of Aktau city”, medal "Otan" (2013).
He has more than hundred scientific works, laureate of state prizes in the field of science, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, member of Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences.
