Ludmila Butenko
World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan, Europe and Central Asia
Ludmila Butenko joined the World Bank in Kazakhstan, Astana, in August 2014. Prior to this position, Ms. Butenko served as the World Bank Country Manager in the Republic of Panama, Latin America and the Caribbean. She has led the implementation of the Country Partnership Strategy, managed investment portfolio and projects in support of development programs in the areas such as financial management, social protection, health care, tax reform, and public procurement. Headed training and investors conferences, South-South exchange activities, contributed to the expansion of analytical and advisory services of the the Bank in Panama, in particular for the development of Panama as a regional logistics center.
Specialist with extensive experience in development in four regions of the World Bank (Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, Africa, Europe and Central Asia).
Ms. Butenko, a Ukraine national, joined the World Bank in 1998 as a senior financial Analyst at Energy Department, Africa Region. Before she worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Ms. Butenko speaks English, Spanish, French, Russian and Ukrainian.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from the International Management Institute (Ukraine); she also passed a doctorate course in economics from the Ukrainian State University of Economics and Finance, as well as research courses at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
