Session: Towards a New Growth Model

Today, a number of Central Asian and Caucasus countries have faced challenges of slowing economic growth of major trading partners, falling commodity prices and the volatility of the exchange rate in terms of US dollar strengthening. In this situation, commodity exporters, including Kazakhstan are the most disadvantaged. The session will cover discussion of difficult macroeconomic situation in the region and exchange rate regulation, and policies used for the interim and long-term impediments to implementing fiscal and monetary policy. The role of structural reform in raising growth potential and accelerate economic development will be defined.
